HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANÍEL... WITH SÆÞÓR B.

Sæþór (pronounced "sigh-thor") was a difficult guy to schedule for the shoot. I think he was the second guy I chatted with when we announced the coming of a Reykjavík issue, but it was so hard to get a time and date to snap him. You see, Sæþór and his partner have a little baby boy, Daníel, and as you can imagine, it's hard to juggle time. And you really can't have a baby crawling around amongst a bunch of lighting wires, not to mention the distraction caused by a cute kid when you're trying to pose for the camera.

Eventually, however, on my final day in Iceland, I chatted to Sæþór who said he had a bit of time that evening to shoot. I was going to be on my way to the airport but could pop by sometime after Daníel's birthday party ended. And so I did.

When I arrived, I waited a long time at the door, probably ringing the bell four times with I got any answer. I suppose it was a bit hectic inside, and when I did get in, the detritus of a baby's birthday bash was apparent. I was half going to offer to help tidy up but thought it best to just stay out of the way.

After spending a few minutes hanging out with baby Daníel, Sæþór and I went upstairs to do some shots. Then the lighting equipment failed, and it was too dark to do any without assisted lighting, so it was room lights and lamps that we had to rely on.

First we did some pics alone with Sæþór, and then Daníel joined... but Daníel had had a long day and after just a few snaps, he was was starting to become a bit of a diva! "Enough!" was his expression, and so off he went to bed. So Sæþór and I did a few more shots and then it was time to leave the family in peace. Happy birthday Daníel - I hope you know how much your two daddies love you. Anyone who enters their home can feel it so strongly.
