Rough Style...with Thomas C

Thomas C was the third guy I shot as part of my 3200 ISO experiments, an attempt to see what I could do indoors at night without using strobes or flash. I have to say that I'm really happy with the results and am really getting into it. In a way, I've always been into this rough style, but formal photography education taught me that such a style was just wrong. And although I know that Elska isn't some glossy magazine, I worry that all these grainy, gritty, hard images I've been doing lately will put off readers.
Then again, isn't one of the draws of having an independent magazine that you can push boundaries a bit? I've always been sceptical of rules, particularly when it comes to the arts, yet schooling taught me to obey rules, or at least to second guess myself whenever I break them.
In the end, if I like how an image looks, that's all that really matters, right?
